Do together: Get outdoors
When girls spend time outside, they build confidence in themselves – there’s a lot of science to support this. Attn: and REI summed it up well in this article.
While it may not always seem like it, your girl benefits from spending time with you. One-on-one time with a parent, auntie, or other trusted adult builds connection. When you let the girl choose the activity and spend uninterrupted time focused on her, the benefits are exponential – she’ll feel more connected, less stressed, confident, and more cooperative.
So in this time of social distancing and summer weather, head outside and spend some time together. Here are some activities to suggest.
Remember, let her choose.
Here are some ideas:
Take a walk
Go for a run
Go for a hike (Even better, pack you backpacks and hike in to stay overnight)
Paddle board
Kayak
Go fishing
Rock climb
Ride your bikes
Practice outdoor yoga
Climb a tree
Swim
Boogie board or surf
Throw a Frisbee
Go bird watching
Garden or visit a farm
Stargaze
Here are some organizations that offer programs that get girls outside and help develop confidence and leadership.
