Postcards of joy: Reaching out while staying home

postcards.JPG

A couple of weeks ago, my daughter received a postcard in the mail from one of her local friends. They haven’t seen each other in person for more than 50 days because of our state’s stay home order.

It was an unexpected gesture of pure love that brought Landry joy. Immediately, she wanted to send a postcard back. I happened to have a book of Georgia O’Keefe postcards, so she grabbed one, and five minutes later, it was in the mailbox.

This week is National Postcard Week; why not bring some unexpected joy to the girl(s) and women in your lives? Send a postcard and tell her…

  • three things you love most about her

  • three things you miss most about her

  • why you are grateful to have her in your life

  • a time she supported you

  • a favorite memory you have of her

Or, just say hi and tell her you miss her. Whatever comes from your heart.

Send one, send five, send 20.

Use any postcard, but make sure it’s a real postcard you can hold in your hand. You can even embellish it like Landry’s friend did. And, if you don’t have any postcards lying around the house, make your own, or here are some you can get delivered in just a couple of days.
